Cruises from San Francisco head north to Alaska from May through September. In fall and spring, ships sail south to Mexico's Pacific Coast. This Northern California city also is the port of departure for small-ship cruises of the Napa and Sonoma wine country in autumn.

San Francisco lies about 90 minutes southwest of Sacramento and six hours north of Los Angeles. Reno and Carson City, NV, are within a four-hour drive.

The Port of San Francisco (Pier 35) is located midway between the Bay Bridge and Fisherman's Wharf. Parking is available at the pier and is $14.00 per day (rates subject to change by Port Authority).

Traveling From the North - On 101 Southbound, take the Lombard Street exit. Take Lombard East approximately 1.5 miles and turn left on Van Ness. Turn right on Bay Street, then proceed 1 mile to the Embarcadero. Turn left on Embarcadero, and Pier 35 is immediately to the right.

Traveling From the South - On 280 Northbound, exit at the end of 280 Freeway at King. Continue 3 blocks on King until it turns into Embarcadero. Pier 35 is approximately 2 miles ahead to the right.
